The Detroit Lions faithful recently saw a light at the end of the tunnel as the team's ownership finally decided to sack head coach Matt Patricia and general manager Bob Quinn. The move came after the Lions were dealt with a 41-25 rout in Week 11 led by Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson's impressive performance under center, via Jeremy Reisman of Pride of Detroit.

He recorded 318 passing yards and completed 17-of-25 passes along with four passing touchdowns to drop the Lions to their seventh loss of the season.  To show appreciation for Watson's efforts to change the minds of the team brass, Lions fans took matters into their own hands and poured in their own donations for Watson’s charity – the Deshaun Watson Foundation.

The effort was reportedly initiated by the Lions Reddit page which urged users to donate an amount of $13 each, symbolizing the number of wins that Patricia was able to garner through 43 games at the helm.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, donations totaled to a sum of $1,070 as of Sunday morning, which came less than 24 hours since the team parted ways with its head coach and general manager.

Matt Patricia has been patrolling the sidelines since the 2018 season while Bob Quinn held the post dating back to 2016. Coincidentally, the two individuals both came from the New England Patriots organization prior to their stint in Detroit.

With a two-game losing skid and a dismal 4-7 record to show for, things couldn't get any worse than this for the Lions. Motor City is hoping that a new head coach could usher in a better outlook for the team and bring them to greater heights moving forward.
