The Detroit Lions took two huge blows on Sunday with running back Kerryon Johnson and cornerback Darius Slay sidelined for the remainder of their Week 7 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The 28-year-old Slay is a two-time Pro-Bowl defensive back selected in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Lions. Slay previously missed the Lions' Week 4 tilt against the Kansas City Chiefs with a hamstring injury. That hamstring has come back into the fold, re-aggravating during Detroit's NFC North divisional matchup with Minnesota, prompting the stable secondary player to leave the game.

Johnson, 22, rushed for 125 yards three weeks ago against the Chiefs but left today's contest with a knee injury. The second-year running back was selected by the Lions in the second round of the 2018 draft and has quickly vaulted himself to be a primary worker in Detroit's backfield.

The Vikings are dealing with their own injuries, too, with wide receiver Adam Thielen exiting the game with a hamstring ailment. Minnesota has a Thursday night matchup with the Washington Redskins, prompting Sunday's game as uber important given the relatively poor play of the 1-5 Redskins. A divisional win against their rival Lions would the Vikings' record to 5-2 with the D.C. franchise on their radar; meanwhile, Detroit is just trying to get back over .500.
