Matthew Stafford was listed as questionable for the Detroit Lions, but his status seems to be determined already. According to Ian Rapoport, Stafford will not play versus the Chicago Bears, snapping his 136 straight starts streak.

For the past few weeks, Stafford has been dealing with a back injury that has kept his name on the team's injury report every week. Before Week 10, the veteran signal-caller has been able to withstand the injury and play through it.

Unfortunately, the injury seems to be getting worse and Detroit's team doctors are advising Stafford to sit out. Despite Stafford wanting to play, it is probably best that he avoids putting himself in harm's way on Sunday versus the Bears.

Prior to the injury, Stafford had thrown for 2,499 yards, 19 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Furthermore, the Lions' franchise quarterback was on pace for one of the best seasons of his career.

With Stafford cautiously being held out, Jeff Driskel will draw the start for the Lions on Sunday. Driskel started in five games for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2018. In those five games, he finished with 1,003 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions.

Depending on the severity of the injury, Stafford could miss multiple weeks for Detroit. Considering that the Lions are essentially out of the playoff race, it may be wise for Detroit to be cautious with their talented quarterback.

Of course, with Stafford missing Sunday's contest, his streak of 136 consecutive starts will come to an end. His 136 consecutive starts were second among active quarterbacks. The only quarterback ahead of him is Philip Rivers, with 218 consecutive starts for the Los Angeles Chargers.
