The Los Angeles Rams were busy this offseason attempting to build on their magnificent 2017 NFL season. They managed to fill a huge void with the acquisition of wide receiver Brandin Cooks.

They have since wasted no time in signing Cooks to a five-year, $80 million extension to lock him up for the long haul and has since expressed how excited he is to get a deal done via the team's official Twitter:

It goes without saying that the team made quite the investment in making Cooks a Ram. They even parted ways with a 2018 first-round pick in order to acquire him from the New England Patriots this offseason. However, the news should come as no surprise considering how enamored they have been with him from the start.

Both general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay have sung the praises of Cooks ever since his arrival. That said, it is clear that both sides had heavy interest in getting a long-term deal done.

The new contract is a bit of a milestone for Cooks at this point in his career. Despite being one of the most promising, young wideouts in the league, he has had a rough time finding a place to call home. The Rams will be his third team in three years after stints with the New Orleans Saints and Patriots.

It seems Los Angeles did not even need a single game to determine whether or not they wanted to keep him around. Based on his comments, it is safe to assume the feeling is mutual from Cooks.
