The Orlando Magic believe that young star forward Aaron Gordon can still take his game to another level. Gordon was selected by the Magic with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft out of Arizona and is coming off his best year yet.

Magic president Jeff Weltman believes Gordon has the potential to grow until a real superstar, according to John Denton of Magic.com.

“We believe that Aaron has a great leap yet to make. His improvement won’t come by him being a better worker because he’s already as good a worker as you could ever ask for,” Weltman said. “He’s going to have to get there by gaining more of an overall understanding of how it all fits together. That comes with age and experience. The best thing about Aaron is that his response to any adversity is always hard work. Now, with the organization coming together as it is and putting pieces around him, we’re looking forward to him making that next leap.’’

Gordon entered the league as a 6-foot-9 forward with tremendous bounce. His 39-inch vertical jump made him a prolific dunker, but he knew he needed to add more to his game to be successful in the league.

After playing a good amount of small forward early in his career, Gordon played almost exclusively at power forward last season. He ended up recording career highs in points (17.6), 3-point shooting percentage (33.6), rebounds (7.9) and assists (2.3).

The Magic finished second-to-last in the Eastern Conference last year, only beating out the Atlanta Hawks. If they want to improve and move into the playoff picture, Gordon's development and leadership skills will be critical.
