Malik Monk, a 6-foot-3 guard out of Kentucky, worked out with the Philadelphia 76ers this past Thursday in hopes of impressing the franchise that holds the 3rd overall pick in next week's NBA Draft. Coaches put him through an intense workout, consisting of 3-on-3, coming off of screens, shooting, and vigorous defensive drills. According to Keith Pompey of Philly.com, the executive of the 76ers, Brandon Williams, commented on Monk's promising potential:

“We know that he can shoot the ball and we were excited to see that…“We wanted to challenge him in some other ways. This would be the first time that a shooter has done so much defense in a workout. But it’s really important to see a full suite of skills.”

With a relatively small physique compared to Sixer's point guard Ben Simmons, he still was able to get through the drills with comfort as Monk stated, “I was comfortable with whatever they put me through. Knocked down a couple shots, able to read off the ball screens and dribble handoffs, stuff like that. I think I did pretty good.”

Having already out with the Phoenix Suns, Orlando Magic, and the New York Knicks, Monk is a top prospect for many teams in this upcoming draft class. With his phenomenal shooting ability and explosiveness off the dribble being displayed during his freshman year at Kentucky, he has the potential to be a “combo guard”  while competing for the starting position.
