Sunday brought the end of an era at Old Trafford as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer mutually parted ways with Manchester United after almost three years in charge. After all, it was an emotional day for the club and its players because he is a wonderful human being and a Red Devils legend from his playing days at Man United.

Cristiano Ronaldo was one of the latest figures to bid farewell to the Norwegian in a heartwarming post on social media. Take a look:

Of course, Ronaldo played with Solskjaer during his first stint with the Red Devils as well. It's unfortunate the side had to sack him but considering the way they've been playing, there was really no other choice.

Saturday was evidently the last straw for Solskjaer at Man United as the club suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat at Vicarage Road against Watford. Michael Carrick has taken over as the caretaker manager for the time being until the United board can find a full-time replacement.

Antonio Conte was arguably their top target but he's already accepted the job at Tottenham. Zinedine Zidane is reportedly the ideal candidate for Man United right now, but the former Real Madrid boss apparently has zero interest in taking over in Manchester.

The Red Devils have now lost four of their last seven games, picking up just one victory in the process.
