Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol has been diagnosed with a bone bruise in his right foot after getting an MRI today, according to a report by Michael Wallace of Grizzlies.com.

The 7-foot-1 center is slated to sit out Wednesday's preseason finale against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Gasol suffered the injury during Saturday's double overtime game against the Houston Rockets, leaving in the fourth quarter after having played 20 minutes. The injury was initially thought to be just a sore ankle and Gasol was treated the next day to see how his foot reacted.

The added concern here is that the Spanish international is just coming back from surgery last February to repair a non-displaced Type II fracture of the navicular bone in the same foot. The recovery took him the last two months of the season and the entire offseason.

While the signing of Chandler Parsons, the promotion of JaMychal Green to the starting lineup and the return of a healthy Mike Conley Jr. have the Grizzlies in high spirits, the big man is still the centerpiece of the team and the anchor that keeps the defense as one of the best in the league.

Marc Gasol averaged 16.6 points with 7.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game through 52 games last season.
