In a rather shocking move on Monday, New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter stepped down as the CEO of the Miami Marlins after five seasons. It appears the two sides were clashing heads in regards to the direction the organization was heading.

While it's unknown what Jeter's next move will be, he's already being recruited by ESPN for a TV gig, according to Front Office Sports.

But ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro just happens to be a huge New York Yankees fan and the Worldwide Leader in Sports would love to get into business with the former Yankees captain, according to sources inside ESPN who declined to be named.

ESPN has already established a relationship with the five-time World Series champion.

ESPN Films is set to release a documentary later this year about Derek Jeter called “The Captain”, which has some pretty high-profile names on the producing side of things, including Spike Lee.

Obviously, Jeter has never done TV broadcasting, but he's extremely used to being on the camera after his Hall of Fame career. There's definitely the chance he wants to work in another front office in the Majors, but it sounds like ESPN is willing to make Derek Jeter a pretty hefty offer to join the team.
