Delon Wright's contract with Dallas Mavericks has $350k each in incentives if he makes the All-Star team, crowned Most Improved Player, and makes the All-Defensive First or Second Team.

Per Tim MacMahon of ESPN via Bobby Marks, in order for Wright to achieve these milestones, the Mavs should give him ample minutes.

Wright, the 20th pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, was traded to the Mavs over the summer from the Memphis Grizzlies. He spent his first four and a half years with the Toronto Raptors where he spent the majority of his time with the Raptors 905 of the G League.

In 26 games with the Grizzlies, Wright averaged 12.2 points, 5.3 assists, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.6 steals across 30.8 minutes. It was proof that once given the opportunity, Wright is capable of being an effective role player.

And in a recent interview, Wright noted he and head coach Rick Carlisle has ironed out his role for the team. Per Eddie Sefko of mavs.com:

“We’re going to change that,” Wright said of the rebounding woes. “My brother tells me that the better you rebound, the better you will be able to play because you get the ball in your hand and you can push it and make plays,” Wright said. “With certain teams, they don’t let me offensive rebound and that’s one of my strengths. Rick already said that he’s going to allow me to do that.”

Indeed, things are looking bright for Wright and his new team. Will he be able to cash in on those incentives?
