It is no secret that the end appears to be drawing closer and closer by the day for Dallas Mavericks icon Dirk Nowitzki, who remains primed for retirement after the conclusion of this season. However, the German-born sharpshooter might be thinking not so fast folks as Nowitzki just won't formally close the door on his illustrious NBA career.

Not only that, but Nowitzki has even joked that everyone will be forced to repeat their respective cheers and celebrations in his honor if he does indeed return to the court next season.

“If I come back, we’ll do it all over again,” the legendary Mavs power forward recently said, via Dwain Price of Mavs.com. “I always said we’ll see how the rest of the season plays out and how the body feels.”

Of course, the most notable celebration and recognition came from the NBA itself as the league allowed Dirk Nowitzki to participate in this year's NBA All-Star Game alongside Miami Heat shooting guard Dwyane Wade, who has announced his retirement from the league after this season.

“That was obviously awesome,” the Nowitzki commented after hitting a few shots at this year's NBA All-Star Game, via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “The first one I was a little deep, and I let it ride, all in, last time on this stage, might as well try it and then it went in,” Nowitzki said. “Then the second one was kind of the same, stepped back a little bit more.

“It was a great feeling to be out there on this stage one more time and enjoy it and talk to trash to my teammates and the other guys. It was a fun weekend. I tried to enjoy myself as much as I could.”

Well, let's see what happens with the Mavs…
