There are only a handful of players in the league that teams would do anything to get their hands on. LeBron James is one of those players. So when the Lakers superstar announced that he would play for any team that drafted his son Bronny, every fan had their interest piqued, including Dallas Mavericks fans.

However, Mark Cuban, the owner of the Mavs, all but shut down those rumors of potentially acquiring the James father-and-son duo. In an interview, Cuban expressed doubts about drafting Bronny, citing the presence of one Luka Doncic on their roster. (via Silver Screen and Roll)

“I don’t know. I don’t know. It depends on the circumstances and how good Bronny is. Would I just burn (a second-round pick) just to burn it? Probably not. And again, we’ll have this guy named Luka (Doncic) who is really, really good. And so it would really depend on the team that we have around him.”

Mavs fans are one of the few fanbases that isn't drooling at the idea of LeBron James playing for them, and for good reason. Doncic has been an insanely talented player who projects to be similar to LeBron in magnitude and playing style. While getting LeBron alongside Bronny would be nice, it's certainly a luxury for this franchise rather than a need.

Of course, things can change drastically in a few years. Should Bronny James turn into a potentially significant piece for Luka, it's entirely possible that the Mavs pull the trigger on him. And who knows? Maybe it would really bring the King to Texas for the first time.
