Luka Doncic delivered another 40-point effort for the Dallas Mavericks in Game 3 against the Golden State Warriors. Once again, however, the Mavs found themselves on the losing end of things.

The Slovenian wonderboy finished with 40 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. Unfortunately, his production was not enough to get the Mavs back into the series, with the likes of Reggie Bullock, Dorian Finney-Smith and Maxi Kleber all struggling to make their shots in the 109-100 loss.

It was the same story for Luka and the Mavs in Game 2, where Doncic dropped 42 points in a losing effort. According to Tim MacMahon of ESPN, Dallas is now 2-6 in the playoffs when the 23-year-old scores 40 or more points.

This is certainly a concerning stat, but not for Luka Doncic. It shows what he brings to the Mavs and what he is capable of. However, it is quite the problem for Dallas since it proves they remain a one-star team.

There were high hopes that Jalen Brunson or Spencer Dinwiddie can fill that role in the postseason, but so far against the Warriors, they have been non-impactful. Luka has basically taken it upon himself to carry the scoring load for Dallas, which is just not sustainable.

Dallas has now fallen 3-0 to the Warriors, with the threat of a sweep in the Finals looking like a real possibility. Hopefully, though, Dallas can still win a game or two and make it a competitive series.
