Luka Doncic was unable to suit up for the Dallas Mavericks on Friday as the Mavs suffered a 112-104 against the Phoenix Suns. Dallas will be back in action on Sunday in a highly-anticipated match against the Los Angeles Clippers and at this point, Doncic's playing status is still up in the air.

According to a report posted by ESPN, Mavs head coach Jason Kidd is still unsure if Doncic will be able to suit up for Sunday's tilt. Nevertheless, the first-year Dallas coach remains optimistic of Doncic's chances against LA:

Doncic (left knee and ankle sprains) missed his second straight game but has practiced some with the team during the road trip — including during pregame warmups Friday. Kidd said he's hopeful that the star guard can play Sunday against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Doncic has been out of action for two games now due to a sprain on both his left knee and ankle. The Mavs star is pretty banged up right now and it won't be surprising if he ends up sitting out his third straight game on Sunday night.

Doncic has been his usual dominant self for the Mavs early in the season. The 22-year-old has put up averages of 24.9 points (on 43.4 percent shooting), 8.3 rebounds, 7.9 assists, and 1.3 steals, while also connecting on 2.5 triples per game.
