Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban wants to make sure things are as safe as possible when it comes to resuming the NBA season. Earlier, the Mavs owner raised concerns about the NBA reopening practice facilities in certain states, fearing for the safety of his players and employees.

Recently, Cuban spoke with Tim Cato of The Athletic. When asked to expound on his statement about wanting to have his players and other employees consistently tested for the coronavirus before reopening, Cuban had this to say:

“I’ll use the White House protocol,” he stated. “The way the White House protects the president and vice president is the way that I want to protect our players and employees, you know? We’ll just try to just copy what they do as a means of knowing when the time is right. As of now, for all we know, for all we’ve been informed, anyways, they’re testing everybody. And they test their top people on a daily basis. And so they have access to the best science, the best information, and so it just makes sense to me that we just copy them.”

One might think that Cuban is being a bit extreme here, especially considering the issues pertaining to the availability of testing kits. It seems that this is exactly the message the Mavs owner is trying to send out, though. If the White House is constantly testing Donald Trump, Mike Pence and other key members of the government, Cuban wants to make sure that is available everywhere.

For what it's worth, Cuban believes widespread testing will be available in the next month or two, though he admits it's simply because he trusts “American exceptionalism, entrepreneurialism spirit and capitalism.” We'll have to wait and see if his confidence is misplaced or if everything works out.
