The Dallas Mavericks suffered a disappointing overtime defeat against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday, 123-120. It was a hard-fought battle through and through, but in the end, the Mavs fell short.

Following the loss, Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle spoke about his team's struggles in this loss and in general of late. The veteran coach admitted that his side committed more than a few errors during the contest, and there will be an opportunity to learn from it:

“Everything gets magnified in a game like this. You leave a guy open for three, you do this, you do that, a turnover here, something there, loose ball – it was a little bit of everything out there,” he said after the 123-120 loss to Charlotte on Saturday, via Eddie Sefko of Mavs.com. “It’s on all of us.”

“But,” as he has said on many occasions, “we’ll learn from this.”

Coach Carlisle is obviously focusing on the silver lining here, insisting that this defeat will turn out to be a good thing for his team in the grander scheme of things. Dallas has had a fair amount of lessons learned over the past week, with the team losing three out of the four games they've played since Sunday.

It will be a tough week ahead for the Mavs as they embark on a four-game home stand. They host the Chicago Bulls on Monday, followed by a matchup against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday. Dallas will end the game week with a difficult back-to-back set on Friday and Saturday against the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers, respectively.

Surely, Rick Carlisle will want to have his team ready for the grueling week ahead, and the hope is Kristaps Porzingis will be back soon.
