Team Giannis is beating Team LeBron 95-82 at the half. With that, comes the MVP predictions. In his last All-Star game before retiring, Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki has come out shooting and now has a major endorsement in the form of Mavs teammate Luka Doncic.

Doncic is the obvious front-runner for Rookie of the Year but isn't in the game himself this year. He's using that as an opportunity to lobby for his teammate though.

Nowitzki was placed in the game in a “special” spot, along with Dwyane Wade, thanks to commissioner Adam Silver. However, you'd never know Nowitzki wasn't voted in based on the way the crowd was rooting for him as he entered the game.

You also wouldn't realize he didn't get voted in due to how well he's playing. In just four minutes in the first half, Nowitzki dropped nine points on 3-of-3 shooting, all from three.

Right now, he's actually in the running for MVP. You could make arguments for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton and Paul George as well.

All three have more points than Nowitzki and Antetokounmpo is putting together a fantastic all-around game.

Expect Nowitzki to get a few more shots before the end of the night though. If he can hit a few more threes, he might have the trophy in his hands by the end of the night.

Although, let's be honest. Even if Nowitzki doesn't do much else, it will be hard not to give him the award.

The 40-year-old has given a lot to the game of basketball and is showing he can still shoot the lights out at times. He has the vote of the most popular rookie the NBA has seen in a long time and will definitely have the fans both at home and in the crowd on his side.

Even if Dirk Nowitzki doesn't win the award though, it's great to see him out there showing everyone he's still a deadly shot.
