The Dallas Mavericks are reportedly looking to add a “big physical presence” next to Kristaps Porzingis via trade.

ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe briefly discussed the rumor on the Woj & Lowe Trade Special. Wojnarowski particularly noted that the Mavs are looking for a big man to “put beside” Porzingis. They mentioned that the type of player Dallas is looking for is someone like Montrezl Harrel or Andre Drummond.

The Mavs are ahead of schedule in their rebuild, thanks to the quick rise of Luka Doncic to stardom. A legitimate MVP candidate, Luka has single-handedly elevated Dallas to playoff contention.

Dallas is doing alright so far this year, which is an indication that they have something special in their European duo of Luka and Porzingis. However, if the Rick Carlisle-coached squad wants to compete not only for the playoffs but also for the title, addressing the team's need for a bruising big man is a priority this season.

In the event that they do add a big man in the paint, then we may see an uptick in the Mavs' rebounds or even points in the paint. As of writing, the Mavs score 19.7 points in the paint per game, which ranks 12th in the league. In terms of rebounds, they rank fourth with 47.8 per contest.
