MCU star Iman Vellani has cited one of Billy Joel's weirdest albums as inspiration for her Ms. Marvel comic.

In a TikTok post from the official Marvel entertainment account, Vellani revealed that the idea for her Ms. Marvel comic came to her in a dream. Additionally, she was listening to Joel's River of Dreams album at the same time.

“The whole comic book thing came to me in a dream, and I was listening to Billy Joel's River of Dreams, and I was like, ‘There's too much many dreams — we have to do dreams now,'” Vellani revealed.

Sabir Pirzada, the Ms. Marvel comic's co-writer with Vellani, described the opening as a “somewhat surreal dream sequence.” The sequence sees Kamala waking up in the egg that she resurrected in on Krakoa. She goes through a Groundhog Day-like scenario where she relives the dream while simultaneously being pulled in different directions.

He would continue by praising Vellani's visual eye, saying that “a lot of” the specific visuals are things the MCU star came up with.

River of Dreams was Joel's penultimate studio album (before his Fantasies & Delusions, which was a collection of classical compositions).

Iman Vellani will make her MCU return in The Marvels. The film, which serves as a sequel to both Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel, will team her up with Brie Larson's Carol Danvers and Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau. The three discover their powers are entangled, as they swap places upon using them. Samuel L. Jackson will also star in the film. Nia DaCosta driected it.

The Marvels will be released on November 10.
