Arizona State standout Leon Marchand obliterated Michael Phelps' last standing solo world record. The now swimming rising star placed the record under his belt during the World Aquatics Championship and does not plan to look back. He even got the legendary Olympian to react to his record-breaking 400-meter medley run.

Michael Phelps and Leon Marchand were both coached by Bob Bowman. But, this should not discount the fact that it was the Arizona State young gun who gave all his effort. Phelps reacted to the amazing win against Carson Foster, via NBC Sports.

Michael could have only described the feat with one word: Incredible.

All of this was a product of blood, sweat, and tears. Marchand described what the win meant for him and outlined his journey toward the win and the all-time record, per Reuters.

“That was insane, one of the most painful things I’ve done. It was amazing to do it here and the time is crazy,” he said.

Plans for a legendary career are also in place for the Arizona State standout. He disclosed that this was not his peak and fans should look forward to more historic runs.

“The best is yet to come,” Marchand disclosed.

It was such perfect timing that Phelps was calling the match. He even presented the youngster with the gold medal. Some saw it as a sign of passing the last torch after his 2008 Beijing Olympics record was shattered. Will Leon Marchand set more human nature-defying records as his career goes on?
