Shadow Mountain High School has dismissed former NBA star Mike Bibby as its head basketball coach as a result of sexual abuse allegations, according to Lily Altavena of The Arizona Republic:

“He is no longer eligible to volunteer as our coach pending the outcome of the investigations,” Becky Kelbaugh, a spokeswoman with the Paradise Valley Unified School District, said in an emailed statement.

The district also confirmed that Phoenix police are investigating the claims made against Bibby, who allegedly sexually abused a teacher back in February 2017.

The teacher claims that Bibby grabbed her by the waist and pulled her into his car on school property and then began groping her while rubbing his genitals against her.

While Bibby did not comment, his attorney, Donald Harris, vehemently denied the allegations:

“I can say with pretty much certainty this alleged incident didn't happen and that will be shown down the road,” said Harris. “Michael Bibby did not participate in a sexual assault of any way, shape or form that was alleged by this lady two years ago.”

Bibby had a 14-year NBA career, playing for the Vancouver Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks, Washington Wizards, Miami Heat and New York Knicks.

He is most known for his six and a half year run with the Kings, where he teamed up with Chris Webber, Vlade Divac and Peja Stojakovic to form one of the top teams in the Western Conference.

Bibby's most productive season came during the 2005-06 campaign, when he averaged 21.1 points and 5.4 assists per game.

He owns career averages of 14.7 points and 5.5 assists.
