The San Francisco Giants take on the Colorado Rockies. Check out our MLB odds series for our Giants Rockies prediction and pick.

Alex Wood goes for San Francisco, while Antonio Senzatela takes the bump for Colorado.

Alex Wood has a 3.60 ERA. He has pitched 4 1/3 to 5 1/3 innings in each of his six starts this season. He gave up more than three runs in only one of those starts (five against the Nationals on April 29). You can expect Wood to give the Giants five innings and generally allow two to three runs per game. He won't dominate but will keep his team in the game, turning the contest over to the bullpen in the sixth through ninth innings. This is something to consider when making a Giants Rockies prediction.

Antonio Senzatela has a 4.88 ERA. He has had two strong starts and four bad ones. The two strong starts came against the Cubs and Reds, two bad teams. Better opponents have hurt him, including the Giants, who touched him up for five runs in 3 2/3 innings last Tuesday, May 10, in San Francisco. Also noteworthy is the fact that Senzatela's two strong starts came at Coors Field, so it's not a case of Coors being uniquely bad for his pitching results. If anything, he feels slightly more comfortable at home than on the road. The big picture, though, is that he hasn't been able to maintain a steady groove and rhythm so far this season. Hitters are still ahead of him. Think about that when making a Giants Rockies pick.

Why The Giants Could Cover the Spread

Em The Giants have won 10 consecutive games over the Rockies, and yet that doesn't tell the full story of San Francisco's dominance in this matchup. The Giants have had at least 10 hits in each of those 10 wins. According to Stats, LLC, the last time the Giants had a 10-game winning streak against one opponent with 10 or more hits in each game came against the Reds from July 18, 1933, to May 7, 1934. That is historically impressive and remarkable. The Giants absolutely wear out the Rockies and make them beg for mercy.

Sure, at some point, this streak of total ownership will end. That's baseball. However, do you really want to bet on the Rockies until they prove they can fight back against a nemesis? No you don't.

It also has to be said, when thinking about a Giants Rockies prediction, that Colorado got blasted three times in San Francisco last week without hitting a single home run. Yes, Coors Field should provide a power boost, but it remains that Giants pitching has Colorado's number and is not likely to get rocked. Colorado might score four or five runs in this game, but the Giants have consistently scored more than that many runs against Rockies pitching.

Why The Rockies Could Cover the Spread

After being so thoroughly dismantled by the Giants, the Rockies are due to bounce back at some point, right? Yes, they have been completely dominated by San Francisco, but baseball teaches us that streaks are made to be broken. Division rivals play each other 19 times each year. The weaker team is going to win a handful of games with a few rare exceptions. The Rockies are going to grab one from the Giants sooner or later, and the Giants are coming off a Sunday Night Baseball game and a late plane flight, while the Rockies were able to stay home after Sunday's game against the Royals and sleep in their own beds. Sometimes, something like that can matter.

Final Giants-Rockies Prediction & Pick

If the Rockies break the streak against the Giants, you can live with that. If you bet on the Rockies and they lose, you would be more annoyed with yourself. Take the Giants for now, and also consider the under given how high the total is. The Giants pitch decently.

Final Giants-Rockies Prediction & Pick: Giants -1.5, under 12
