The NBA on Monday morning announced the selections for both All-Defensive teams for the 2016-17 season.

This list includes many familiar faces earning the nomination to be considered among the top defensive players in the league with players from nine different teams selected as the San Antonio Spurs were the only organization to have multiple representatives, according to Chris Haynes of ESPN.

The NBA All-Defensive First Team was headed by Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul, who received his seventh selection with the honor while Houston Rockets guard Patrick Beverley received his first selection on the list. The frontcourt was manned by another first timer for recognition in Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert alongside two returning selections in Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green and Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard, who have both made the list a third and second time consecutively respectively.

The NBA All-Defensive Second Team featured several players earning the honor for the first time in Spurs guard Danny Green, Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo and Oklahoma City Thunder guard Andre Roberson. Meanwhile, it marked the second career nod for the honor for New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis and second consecutive time on the list for Memphis Grizzlies guard Tony Allen, who has six career All-NBA Defensive team selections.

The choices for this year's two All-Defensive teams featured many new faces of players that have progressively built the reputation for being stout individual defenders. It also helps put a cap on breakout years from Antetokounmpo and Gobert while also further garnering more national recognition as rising stars in the league.

At the same time, it further strengthens the resumes of players such as Paul, Green, Leonard, Allen, and Beverley as being game changers on the defensive end of the floor. There were a couple of notable names such as Boston Celtics guard Avery Bradley, Warriors guard Klay Thompson, and Clippers center DeAndre Jordan off the list, but for the most part, deserving players earned the prestigious selection.
