NBA commissioner Adam Silver admitted that he is not surprised by the huge number of player movements this summer.

Silver said that the league already expected a huge numbers of players changing teams when the league started implementing shorter contracts a few years ago.

“We knew when we shortened contracts a few years ago, we'd have more free agency, more player movement,” Silver said via Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe.

Just this summer, several superstars decided to switch teams in what is considered as one of the busiest free-agency period in league history. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving were the first two dominoes to fall. Durant and Irving left the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics, respectively, to team up in Brooklyn.

Kawhi Leonard made headlines on Saturday as well when he picked the Los Angeles Clippers over the Toronto Raptors and the Los Angeles Lakers. Leonard pulled off a heist, as he also made moves to force the Clippers to trade for Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Paul George.

Other notable free agents will also be wearing new uniforms next season. Kemba Walker left the Charlotte Hornets to sign with the Boston Celtics, Jimmy Butler opted to sign with the Miami Heat, while All-Star guard D'Angelo Russell was sent to the Golden State Warriors in a sign-and-trade agreement involving Durant.
