The league's marquee franchises namely the New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors, and the Los Angeles Lakers recently topped Sportico‘s 2021 NBA Franchise Valuations list.

Despite not seeing relevant success on the court in recent seasons, the Knicks continue to be the league's most valuable franchise after garnering a whopping $5.42 billion valuation. The organization's prime location in the center of New York City certainly helped the team to retain and even increase its value despite not being able to assemble a winning team.

Sitting in the second spot are the Warriors who are valuated at $5.21 billion. The team's recent rise especially with the ascend of Stephen Curry helped the Warriors to remain relevant especially in today's NBA. Golden State's championship runs in 2015, 2017, and 2018 all positively contributed to the growth of the franchise's fanbase in recent seasons.

The Lakers are closely trailing behind in third place with a valuation of over $5.14 billion. The Purple and Gold have always remained to be one of the league's premier organizations despite having dark years in recent seasons. The arrival of both LeBron James and Anthony Davis certainly brought new hope to the franchise, which was capped by their 2020 NBA Championship victory.

To round up the list, the Brooklyn Nets are listed in fourth place with a valuation of $3.40 billion. It is expected to rise more so with the arrival of an All-Star caliber talent like James Harden alongside big personalities in Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans settle in the cellar-dwelling spot of the list with a measly $1.35 billion valuation as one of the smallest market teams in the NBA.
