The NBA will have a new live streaming partner in Microsoft for the upcoming 2020-21 regular season.

Per a report from Variety.com, the league has teamed up with the tech giant to incorporate machine learning and AI to tailor the experience of streaming live NBA games. Microsoft will now be the “Official Artificial Intelligence Partner” for the NBA, WNBA, NBA G League, and USA Basketball.

“Our goal, working with Microsoft, is to create customized content that allows fans — whether they are in an NBA arena or watching from anywhere around the world — to immerse themselves in all aspects of the game and engage directly with our teams and players,” NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement on Thursday.

The live games will feature personalized real-time stats overlays and will be streamed through Microsoft Azure. Other innovative perks include clips from historical video archives, as well as a reward system for viewers who engage online.

The partnership also aims to streamline an easier way for fans to catch up on their favorite teams, minus the hassle of diving into multiple archives of scores, highlights, and games.
