Russell Westbrook’s star shines both on and off the court. On the court, he’s a ball of electricity, one who’s able to do whatever he wants with no one seemingly capable of stopping him. Off the court, the Oklahoma City Thunder point guard still commands attention and warrants the limelight, thanks to his flashy fashion and numerous enterprises. And for those reasons, the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) has bestowed upon Russell Westbrook The NBPA Best Side Hustle Award.

This is the second award this year handed to Westbrook by the NBPA. Earlier this week, it was announced that he also won “The Freshest” award. These recognitions should come as consolations for Westbrook, who just finished playing in a letdown season for the Thunder. Coming off an MVP season in 2016-17 and after the Thunder acquired a pair of superstars in Paul George and Carmelo Anthony to play with him, Westbrook was expected to lead Oklahoma City to a deep run in the playoffs.

Instead, the Thunder struggled with consistency all season long and while they made it to the postseason, they were taken out of the first round by Donovan Mitchell and the Utah Jazz.

Nevertheless, Westbrook finished the season with mind-numbing averages of 25.4 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 10.3 assists.
