Vince Carter knows as well as anybody that playing in the NBA is far different than any other level – even for a talent like Zion Williamson.

The living legend recently commended the high-flying youngster on his superior athleticism and stature, but mentioned it shouldn't stop him from improving his game while he can.

From ESPN's Myron Medcalf:

“He's super, super athletic,” said Carter, who ranks seventh in the NBA all-time in made 3-pointers. “He has an NBA body already. I think, more than anything, with all his ability, I just say take his time, develop his game, because when you get here, it's a different beast as far as expectations. A lot of guys try to get here and just develop while they get here.”

Carter, 41, is currently in the midst of his 21st NBA season, pretty much abusing Father Time at this point. He is averaging 7.3 points per game with the Atlanta Hawks and still looks like he could keep playing beyond this year. He will also turn 42 later this month.

As for Williamson, who is making a strong case to be the top overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft in June, has continued to dominate the college ranks and will continue to push his No. 1 in the nation Duke Blue Devils toward a national championship season.

He is currently averaging 20.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.9 blocks and 2.1 steals this season.

Vince Carter has no doubt that Williamson can handle his business at the lower levels, but he's going to need to be prepared for what NBA has in store for him in less than a year.
