Why The Heat Can Cover The Spread

The Heat have been one of the two or three best teams in the NBA early in the new season, along with the Utah Jazz and Golden State Warriors. Miami is currently second in the NBA in net rating behind the Warriors. Miami ranks third in offensive rating and fourth in defensive rating through their first nine games. Kyle Lowry has made for a perfect addition, allowing guys like Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro to focus more on scoring. The results have been overwhelming, as both Butler and Herro have surged as scorers early in the season.

Miami will be the road team, and be playing in the uncustomary altitude of Denver, but the grit the Heat show on defense combined with their offensive efficiency gives them a chance in any game. The Heat are road favorites over a banged up Nuggets team, so be sure to be confident in them on Monday night before you place your bets with Miami.

Why The Nuggets Can Cover The Spread

Denver will be without Michael Porter Jr. again on Monday, along with Jamal Murray who is still working his way back from a torn ACL. This leaves the Nuggets a little thin in the scoring department. putting a lot of Nikola Jokic's soldiers. Jokic is used to carrying the load, however, as evidenced by his MVP 2020-21 season. The Nuggets are getting points on their home floor, something that is always tempting given the altitude and the pretense of Jokic.

The Nuggets rank in the middle of the pack with a slightly positive +1.5 net rating so far this season. In their four home games, however, Denver is much better with a +5.8 net number. The Nuggets are 3-1 at home so far in 2020-21, so taking them with the points in Denver on Monday may not be the worst idea.

Final Heat-Nuggets Prediction & Pick

Back the Nuggets with the points on their home floor on Monday, as they have been a much better team in Denver compared to on the road so far this season.
