Why The Rockets Can Cover The Spread
The spread is big, but perhaps still not big enough to take the Rockets. Houston has the worst offensive rating in the NBA, and there's little reason to put money on them, if any. Sure, they are due for a road win at some point this season but it's a complete guess trying to figure out when someone is going to lay an egg at home and give them one. The Grizzlies are desperate to avoid another loss, especially at home to a team like the Rockets. The Rockets may cover on Monday, but they are not a good play until they show more consistency. Houston is 5-7-1 vs. the spread this season.
Why The Grizzlies Can Cover The Spread
Ja Morant is playing well for the Grizzlies, but his teammates are struggling to give him much help. The Grizzlies are a risk to cover such a large spread however as their -6.9 net rating ranks 25th in the NBA. Memphis is 7-6 against the spread however, so maybe they can cover the large number vs. a truly awful Rockets team.
