Why The Suns Could Cover The Spread

The Suns are on a back-to-back in this spot after beating the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, so they will be at a rest disadvantage. Phoenix has won three in a row and seven of their last ten games. Chris Paul and Devin Booker continue to ball out for the Suns as one of the best backcourt duos in the NBA. The Suns have the third best net rating in the NBA this season and should be in good position for another cover and win vs. the Spurs in this one. The Suns have yet to release an injury report, but should be in good shape as long as at least one of Booker or Paul can suit up for this one.

Phoenix vs. the spread

The Suns are 23-19 vs. the spread so far this season, going 12-8 against the line on the road to this point. Phoenix has covered in six of their last nine games overall.

Why The Spurs Could Cover The Spread

The Spurs will have the rest edge here but that may be the only edge they have in this one. San Antonio is just 2-8 in their last ten  games and had lost five in a row before beating the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday. The Spurs are 16-27 on the season and are at risk of slipping out of the postseason race if they do not level out soon. San Antonio is a mostly young team who will be at a disadvantage in this matchup vs. the best team in the NBA to this point in the season. The Spurs seem unlikely to get a win in this one, but the Suns could be on tired legs playing on back-to-back days.

San Antonio vs. the spread

The Spurs are 23-20 vs. the spread to this point in the season. San Antonio is 16-14 against the line as underdogs this season, and 11-9 vs. the spread as the home team.

Final Suns-Spurs Prediction and Pick:

Take the Suns to win and cover on the road here vs. the Spurs. Phoenix has been the far better team between these two this season and should be able to pull out a cover and a win over a struggling San Antonio team. The Suns blew out the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, so perhaps they are less fatigued than they would be on a typical back-to-back. Ride with the Suns as long as they keep one of their star guards and some supporting pieces in the lineup.

Final Suns-Spurs Prediction & Pick: Suns -4 (-110)
