The New York Knicks and Charlotte Hornets have discussed a deal involving Julius Randle, Dennis Smith Jr., Terry Rozier and Malik Monk, according to Ian Begley of SNY.

The NBA trade deadline is on Thursday and the Knicks could be fairly active:

The Knicks and Charlotte Hornets have discussed a deal involving Julius Randle, league sources confirm. Terry Rozier, Malik Monk and Dennis Smith Jr. are among the names that have come up in discussions between the two franchises, per SNY sources.

Rozier was a free agent target for New York over the summer but he ultimately signed a three-year, $58 million deal with Charlotte.

Randle is making $18 million this season. The lefty has appeared in 48 games for the Knicks and is averaging 18.9 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists while shooting 44.7 percent from the field, 26.9 percent from beyond the arc and 70.7 percent from the free-throw line.

The Knicks are 14-36 on the season, well out of playoff contention for yet another year. Randle, who began his NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers, has career averages of 15.9 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists with the Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans and Knicks.

Smith reportedly wants to get traded by the Knicks. He almost requested a trade this past offseason when New York signed Elfrid Payton.

Rozier is in his first season with the Hornets. He was part of the Kemba Walker sign-and-trade deal with the Boston Celtics.

Monk, the 11th overall pick in the 2011 draft, is someone who could use a change of scenery to jump start his career.
