Kevin Harlan, one of the best play-by-play announcers in the NBA and an extremely recognizable voice among national announcers, was not expecting to have to go on a rant two seconds into the 10:30 p.m. EST time matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and Denver Nuggets. However, he did:

Literally two seconds into this interesting Western Conference matchup, the game had to be stopped due to a clock snafu, and then a fan spilled what looked to be an entire pitcher of beer on the floor.

For the amount of time that the Pepsi Center staff was mopping up the floor with towels, that beer had to be absolutely filled to the brim with delightful Denver suds.

Sadly, Harlan and his partner, NBA Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas, don’t know much about the terrific craft beer scene in Denver (and across the state of Colorado in general) to mention the treasure trove of breweries that specific beer might’ve been.

Either way, this does open up questions about the protocol for sitting courtside. Maybe there should be a clumsiness test so that people who have a penchant for spilling things aren’t allowed to have beverages by the court. Come on, Adam Silver, let’s make this happen.

No matter what, Harlan’s reaction to this was memorable – just another feather in the cap for one of the best national announcers in the NBA.
