The Golden State Warriors sent a top-20 protected 2020 first-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets in the completed sign-and-trade for one-time All-Star guard D'Angelo Russell.

Should the pick land in the protected range, it will convey into a 2025 second-round pick.

The Warriors inked Russell following Kevin Durant's decision to sign with the Nets in unrestricted free agency — joining Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan in Brooklyn.

Irving is an NBA champion, former Rookie of the Year, six-time All-Star, and two-time All-NBA team member. He last played for the Boston Celtics before ditching Bean Town for the New York City outer-borough.

Jordan is a one-time All-Star center who last played for the New York Knicks and Dallas Mavericks during the 2018-19 NBA season. Prior to that, he was part of the “Lob City” LA Clippers with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin.

Russell was selected with the second overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers before washing out of LA following issues with his teammates. The Purple and Gold traded Russell in 2017 to Brooklyn where he revitalized his career, including earning his first All-Star honor in 2019.

With Irving entering the fray, Brooklyn has no use for Russell's talents, so they opted to sign-and-trade him to the Bay Area in a max contract agreement.

The Warriors will now look to pair Russell with two-time league MVP Stephen Curry as Klay Thompson recuperates from a torn ACL — an injury that will likely sideline him for the most part, if not the whole 2019-20 campaign.
