The Brooklyn Nets are scheduled to open their regular season campaign with a match-up against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night. However, it sounds like the Nets will be without the services of several key players, including Allen Crabbe.

New York Post reporter Brian Lewis shared the news on Tuesday morning.

Crabbe's injury (sprained left ankle) occurred in Monday's preseason game against the Pistons. He was carried to the locker room, and X-Rays that were taken came back negative. He's been using crutches since the incident and has not been able to participate in practices.

In 75 appearances with the Nets during their 2017-18 regular season campaign, Crabbe racked up averages of 13.2 points on 40.7 percent shooting from the field (37.8 percent from beyond the arc), 4.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 29.3 minutes per outing.

Nets forward Demarre Carroll (ankle) has also been ruled out of Brooklyn's season opener. Though it doesn't seem to be serious, head coach Kenny Atkinson could not give a timetable for Carroll's return.

“I don’t think it’s a huge thing,” Atkinson told Lewis on Tuesday, referring to Carroll's injury. “It was something where we could go back and forth or get this thing cleaned up and get him feeling 100%.”

With Crabbe and Carroll ruled out for Wednesday night's game, players like Caris LeVert, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Joe Harris could see an up-tick in minutes.

Wednesday night's Nets-Pistons game is set to tip inside Little Caesars Arena at 7:00 p.m. EST.
