The Kyrie Irving saga has been one of the highlights of this off-season. For the uninitiated: Kyrie Irving, Brooklyn Nets star point guard, hasn't been vaccinated against the COVID-19 vaccine. It wouldn't normally be a problem… but New York City laws prohibit Irving from playing in Nets home games. As a result, the eccentric point guard is slated to miss half of the regular season.

Many people have already weighed in on this decision of Irving, clowning the Nets point guard for his weird stand on this topic. Recently, another former NBA player shared his thoughts on the drama, and he wasn't exactly diplomatic with his stance. (via Real Ones podcast)

Raja Bell: “The 10%; not only are they railing against getting their vaccinations, but then they also want all of the mandated testing and precautions and protocols lifted and changed so they’re not inconvenienced. I find that really entitled and obnoxious… A lot of guys in that camp of 10% of NBAers that are your typical conspiracy theories people. Kyrie being front and center.”

Woof. Those are fighting words from the former Phoenix Suns guard. While other guys like Shaquille O'Neal tried to be a bit more kind when addressing the Nets guard, Bell had no plans of doing the same. Instead, he expressed his frustration in a real and brutally honest way. Bell makes some great points: the fact that the players who are unvaccinated want to stay that way, but also get the benefits of the vaccinated guys reeks of entitlement.

It's also worth mentioning Bell's statement about conspiracy theories circulating in the NBA and Kyrie leading the charge. There was recent chatter about the Nets guard and a group of NBA players talking about conspiracy theories on the vaccine. That is a problem for the league's vaccination efforts.

Hopefully, Kyrie gets his head back in the game and takes the vaccine. Both for the Nets, and for the people around him.
