Amid a breakout season that has seen Spencer Dinwiddie begin to gain traction as a household NBA name, came some bad news.
Dinwiddie, who has been balling out for the Brooklyn Nets, sustained an injury to his thumb and it doesn’t look great.

There is even the possibility he could need surgery, reports Shams Charania:

The good news for Dinwiddie, though, is that his fanbase is committed to seeing him return to full health and will help however they can. This was evidenced by a tweet from a fan pledging away his own thumb if it became necessary:
That’s real love but shouldn’t be necessary 😅 https://t.co/fkAIbeznbk

It seems like Dinwiddie appreciates the love from his fans, but it’s safe to say everyone around the league would like to see him make his return as soon as possible.
Close to having his NBA career ended after a short run and multiple relocations to the G-League, Dinwiddie’s success had become one of the league’s best feel-good stories of recent. His contract extension with the Brooklyn Nets earlier this season was a big milestone in the career of a player who has been quickly rising up the ranks of the league.
Spencer Dinwiddie was in line to receive serious consideration for the Sixth Man of the Year award this season.
If he returns quickly enough, the award isn’t out of the question, as he has been putting up big numbers for a red hot Brooklyn Nets team.
In 28.6 minutes per game, he is averaging 17.2 points, 5.0 assists, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 3’s, and 0.6 steals through 49 games this season.
