The Brooklyn Nets changed the landscape of the NBA with their blockbuster James Harden trade, receiving star guard Ben Simmons in return. As the sports world well knows, Simmons has yet to play a single minute on an NBA court this season, so his possible return to action will be one of the bigger storylines in the NBA moving forward. On Thursday, Simmons' return timetable received a key update following the Harden trade, via reporter Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson.

Robinson reports that newly acquired Nets guard Ben Simmons will join the team for their road trip on Friday when they travel to Miami for a game against the Heat on Saturday.

It was reported earlier that Simmons was planning on continuing to work with his therapist in order to get “mentally ready to play”, though no one expected the former Sixers star to join the team this quickly after the Harden trade.

While Simmons remains without a timetable for his return, it sounds like it could happen sooner rather than later if he is already expected to travel with the team.

He'll still need to build up his conditioning, but Nets fans might not have to wait too much longer to see new acquisition Ben Simmons following the James Harden trade, given this encouraging update.
