A verbal agreement may already be in place between Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets, according to Anthony Puccio of NetsDaily.

Irving is widely expected to sign with the Nets once free agency starts on June 30. The six-time All-Star grew up in New Jersey and was a Nets fan as a kid.

Several sources —on several occasions— have told NetsDaily that Kyrie Irving is likely headed to Brooklyn, one source saying it sounds like a “done deal”. Another source tied to the Nets believes there is already a verbal agreement in place.

The Nets have cap space to sign two max contract players this summer. Irving is reportedly trying to bring Kevin Durant to Brooklyn with him. Both Kyrie and KD are represented by Roc Nation Sports, the sports agency group founded by rapper and former Nets co-owner Jay-Z.

This past season with the Boston Celtics, Irving averaged 23.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.9 assists while shooting 48.7 percent from the field, 40.1 percent from beyond the arc and 87.3 percent from the free-throw line. Kyrie is one of the best players in the NBA, but he's also kind of a diva.

The Nets would love it if Durant signed with them as well so that Kyrie wouldn't have to be the leader of the team once KD comes back from his Achilles tear in 2020-21.
