Kevin Seraphin, after a lengthy exploration of options for this season, was acquired by the Indiana Pacers a few days ago.

Before signing with the team, Seraphin had also considered playing outside of America.

Curiously, his former team in the New York Knicks currently have a need for a backup big man, yet they still allowed the 6’10” center to go away. But as it turns out, it wasn’t exactly the case as the team from the Big Apple sought to re-sign Seraphin, per Marc Berman of the New York Post.

The Knicks wanted to re-sign center Kevin Seraphin, according to a source, but were outbid.

The two-year contract Seraphin received Thursday from the rival Pacers starts at $2 million annually, according to a source, with only the first year fully guaranteed. The Knicks only were able to give Seraphin $1.2 million, the minimum for a player with six years of service.

Last year, Kevin Seraphin played 48 games for New York, registering nightly numbers of 3.9 points and 2.6 rebounds in only 11 minutes of play.

When the regular season tips off, he’ll be running the floor and crashing the boards for a much-improved Pacers team.
