Quarterback Sam Darnold felt good about the way he showed up on his pro day in USC, as the potential No. 1 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft made a good account of himself Wednesday in front of several NFL personalities.

Minus the pressure of a live-game setting and throwing passes at choice receivers, Darnold strengthened his case as the top signal-caller prospect this year during his pro day even though he had to brave the elements with rain threatening to pour down on the field.

Darnold appeared on the NFL Network following the drills, and spoke with confidence about the way he performed.

“It was huge. I mean, it’s just a job interview to be honest with you, and just coming out here I thought I showed them the best version of myself. I’ve been training really hard for this day. I thought I did really well just like how I would train for any other game. I thought we came out here as a bunch and we got the job done. The receivers did a good job, too.”

It could be remembered that Sam Darnold did not throw during the NFL Combine, which made his pro day generate even more attention.

The Cleveland Browns hold the top pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, and though the team traded for former Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor, it does not necessarily mean that the Browns are not going to draft a signal-caller.

Back in college, Darnold threw for 7,229 yards on 64.9 completion percentage to go with 57 touchdowns and 22 interceptions.
