The Cincinnati Bengals own the No. 1 overall pick of the NFL Draft later this month, and barring a trade or an unprecedented change in direction, they will be taking LSU quarterback Joe Burrow.

Burrow had reportedly expressed some trepidation about playing for the Bengals earlier this offseason, which had some wondering if he could potentially leverage his way out of Cincinnati.

But the Bengals are doing everything in their power to ensure that doesn't happen.

According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, Cincy has “maxed out” its pre-draft time with Burrow over the past several weeks. Each team is allowed to hold three one-hour phone calls with each prospect during the week, and the Bengals have done those three phone calls with Burrow every week throughout the pre-draft process.

Breer adds that during his podcast with Burrow's trainer, Jordan Palmer, a few weeks ago, the training for Burrow has been focused on getting him ready to play Week 1.

It's looking more and more like that will be in a Bengals uniform.

Burrow is coming off of a 2019 campaign that some consider to be the best collegiate season ever for a quarterback. The 23-year-old threw for 5,671 yards, 60 touchdowns and six interceptions while completing 76.3 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 202 en route to leading LSU to a national championship.

Cincinnati is certainly in need of a quarterback, as it is moving on from Andy Dalton. The Bengals went just 2-14 this past year and have not made the playoffs since the 2015-16 campaign.
