The Carolina Panthers are parting ways with Cam Newton, which was something that just about everyone saw coming.

A big reason for the breakup between the Panthers and Newton was because of the quarterback's declining health, but apparently, Newton is perfectly fine right now.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Newton passed a physical just before his release, with both his foot and his shoulder “checking out well, and he is hungrier than ever and eager for the next opportunity.”

Cam Newton played in just two games this past season due to a foot injury that required surgery earlier this offseason.

It was just the latest procedure that Newton had to undergo, as he has also undergone a pair of shoulder surgeries since the end of 2016.

With Newton being 30 years old and Carolina entering a new era with Teddy Bridgewater under center, you can certainly see why the Panthers would want to move on from Newton.

The Atlanta native, who played his collegiate football at Auburn, was originally selected by Carolina with the first overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft.

It did not take long for Newton to establish himself as one of the league's most exciting young stars, making the Pro Bowl in his rookie year.

Of course, Newton's best season came during the 2015-16 campaign, when he won league MVP honors and led the Panthers to a 15-1 record and a Super Bowl appearance.

However, since then, injuries have derailed Newton's career.

With most quarterback-needy teams having already filled their positions, Newton doesn't have many options left, but he will certainly find a home sometime for 2020.
