The whole NFL and its players were all affected by the incident involving George Floyd on Memorial Day several months ago. All signs pointed out that former quarterback Colin Kaepernick's stance and decision to kneel were right all along. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell also recently issued an apology with the words “I wish we had listened earlier” and “I encourage teams to sign Kaepernick”.

According to an article written by Mike Florio of the Pro Football Talk:

“Per a source with knowledge of the situation, there was some “fake” interest expressed immediately after Floyd’s death, seemingly out of guilt. There has been zero interest expressed as to Kaepernick “in months.”

NFL Media also reported that teams had contacted “friends and associates” of Kaepernick. They also stated that they would be contacting his agent when they “get to the point where they’re confident enough that they think they can work out a contract.”Apparently, all of it turned out to be false hope from the teams who are still unwilling to take a chance on the 32-year old player.

Colin Kaepernick last played in the NFL during the 2016 season as the starting quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers. He famously knelt during the playing of the U.S. national anthem prior to the games as a protest against racial injustice, police brutality, and systematic oppression in American society.

On March 3, 2017, he opted out of his contract and became a free agent at the start of the 2017 league year on March 9. He has yet to find a new team to play for since then. Kaepernick's continued absence from the league further proves that NFL teams still aren't willing to give the man a shot.
