The start 2018 NFL season is only days away with veteran quarterback Colin Kaepernick still without a job. Although Kaepernick won't be under center to begin the 2018 campaign, the controversial quarterback-turned-activist has been keeping busy on many different fronts including being involved with Nike for their “Just Do It” campaign.

According to ESPN's Darren Rovell, Kaepernick has been working with Nike for quite some time with the company waiting for the right moment to drop the campaign. The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback is one of the faces of the campaign, and it will inevitably create quite a bit of buzz considering Nike's relationship with the NFL.

Nike released the following statement about Kaepernick's involvement in the campaign and the reason he was chosen along with five other athletes, via ESPN.

“We believe Colin is one of the most inspirational athletes of this generation, who has leveraged the power of sport to help move the world forward,” Gino Fisanotti, Nike's vice president of brand for North America, told ESPN.

Kaepernick hasn't played a game in the NFL since the 2016 season while he was still with the 49ers. Teams in the league have seemingly refused to entertain the idea of bringing in Kaepernick even in a backup capacity leading to the quarterback claiming collusion among the NFL owners to keep him out of the league because of his controversial stance on the national anthem.

Along with Kaepernick, the “Just Do It” campaign also includes LeBron James, Serena Williams, Lacey Baker, Shaquem Griffin, and Odell Beckham Jr.
