Colin Kaepernick last played in the NFL in the 2016 season. Although the league frequently endorses social-justice messaging, they refused to stick up for one of their players doing so in a non-disruptive and legal manner while no teams looked to sign him. Kap has been looking to make it back ever since.

Kaepernick's dedication to social justice has not wavered one bit since his peaceful protest against police brutality and social injustice. One of his recent endeavors was the founding of the Autopsy Initiative, which provide the families of police brutality victims with another outlet for information about their deceased loved ones. Even though he keeps busy, Kap wants to play in the NFL again.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, it is believed that Kaepernick is in the best shape of his life and ready to play.

At age 34, Kaepernick making an NFL comeback seems like a very, very long shot. Even returning as a backup seems unlikely as he has not played in years and teams showed no interest in him for half of a decade despite his stellar track record as a starter.  The slim odds haven't shied Kap away in the slightest, though. He had a workout in 2019 and has continually said that he wants to make it back.

When Kaepernick last played, he manned a woeful San Francisco 49ers team. In 12 games in the 2016 season, he threw for 2,241 years, 16 touchdowns and four interceptions and ran for 468 yards and two touchdowns. He undoubtedly had the skill to be a starting quarterback in that season, yet no teams showed him any interest. Although Kaepernick has not played for a long time, his dedication shows tremendous love for football.
