Free-agent NFL running back Alex Collins pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges on Thursday, per Nathan Ruiz of the Baltimore Sun. The charges are of possession of more than 10 grams of marijuana and possession of a handgun in a vehicle.

Collins will serve 18 months on unsupervised probation. In Maryland, he was given probation before judgment. Felony charges of intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during a drug-trafficking crime were dropped. Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, he has a small fee of $200 to pay.

The Baltimore Ravens waived Collins hours after he crashed his car near the team's facility. Per Diaz:

Collins “was driving a friend home in his Chevrolet Corvette, which had expired tags, when the car slid off the road in the 10000 block of Dolfield Road and into a tree.”

According to the report, via Diaz, an odor of marijuana from his vehicle prompted the officer to do a search, where they found five ounces of marijuana and a black revolver.

Collins, 25, played in 10 games for the Ravens in 2018 — rushing for 441 yards and seven touchdowns on 114 attempts — before the team placed him on the injured reserve (foot). In the season before, he started 12 out of 15 games for Baltimore, rushing for 973 yards and six touchdowns on 212 attempts. Over the summer, he broke his leg.

Collins' pro future is unknown. He is coming off of an injury and pleading guilty to both misdemeanors will likely lead to some type of enforcement by the NFL, whether it be in the form of fines or a suspension.
