If you were wondering why there is no NFL Thursday Night Football game tonight, here's a quick refresher.

Originally, the Kansas City Chiefs were scheduled to take on the Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium to kick off Week 6 of the 2020 season. That was until Buffalo's Week 5 game against the Tennessee Titans was pushed back from last Sunday to Tuesday of this week in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak amongst the Titans.

Despite their facility being closed for over a week, the undefeated Titans comfortably handed the Bills their first loss of the season, 42-16, in the NFL's second Tuesday night contest in seven decades.

Obviously, playing two games in three days is unfeasible, so the Bills' visit to Kansas City was rescheduled for this Monday (10/19) at 5 p.m. ET. Buffalo will resume its normal schedule the following Sunday against the New York Jets.

The Titans' Week 4 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers was postponed to Week 7 (Sun. 10/25), which would have been Tennessee's bye week.

Overall, 10 NFL teams have had their schedules changed by positive coronavirus tests. The league may be looking at more changes in the coming days after the Atlanta Falcons were forced to close their team facility on Thursday after multiple members of team personnel tested positive. Atlanta is supposed to travel north to face the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

In retrospect, the league probably should have scheduled at least one extra week into the season as insurance for coronavirus-related alterations to the schedule.

So, instead of football, you can look to the baseball playoffs to get your live sports fix tonight. Plus, you have a few more days to set your fantasy lineups.
