Why The Bears Could Win

The Chicago Bears have been struggling this season. Through their first 14 games they only have 4 wins. However, they have actually been somewhat competitive against tough opponents. In their last game they only lost by 8 to the Vikings. In the game prior they lost by 15 to the Packers, however they actually held the lead at half time. Chicago has shown flashes of competitiveness, and Sunday's game is certainly winnable for this team. Whether or not they actually want to win it, for draft pick purposes, is up for debate. But this Bears team definitely has what it takes to pull off the minor upset on Sunday.

Leading the way for the Bears this season has been  Justin Fields. Fields has truly been put to the test in his rookie season. While he has had his fair share of struggles, he has also put up some respectable performances. In their loss to Minnesota, Fields threw for nearly 300 yards and a touchdown. While there was nothing spectacular about this performance, it's good to see Fields feeling comfortable and not turning the ball over. On the season Justin Fields has thrown for nearly 1,900 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. These numbers aren't great, but rookie quarterbacks always struggle. If he can continue to improve and put up another respectable outing, then the Bears could win this game.

On the other side of the ball, the Bears defense has been very solid. Chicago's defense ranks 9th in the league in total yards allowed per game. They have limited opposing quarterbacks to just over 205 passing yards per game and opposing backfields to 120 rushing yards per game. Chicago has been very solid on the defensive end and will likely lean on their defense in this game. Justin Fields status is questionable heading into this matchup, and if he doesn't play then the defense will seriously need to step up.

Why The Seahawks Could Win

The Seattle Seahawks have been having a very underwhelming season. Through their first 14 games they have only managed to win 5. Everyone knew that this team's success was tied heavily to the success of their quarterback, but no one knew quite how much it actually was. The Seahawks are coming off a 10 point loss to the Los Angeles Rams. They will look to bounce back against a significantly weaker opponent. Seattle is the better team in this match up and they should be able to get the win on Sunday. They will just need the team to play solid all around and to stay competitive for four quarters.

The leader of this Seahawks team is Russell Wilson. Wilson has been the face of the Seattle franchise for what seems like forever. He is without a doubt one of the best quarterbacks to ever play in Seattle, however he has been having an underwhelming season. In their loss to the Rams, Wilson threw for less than 160 yards and an interception. An absolutely awful outing from the Seattle legend. On the season he has thrown for less than 2,700 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. While his interception numbers always stay low, his productivity has dropped significantly from last season. Wilson has had a few dominant performances this season and has shown that he is still a great quarterback. If he can have a solid outing on Sunday then the Seahawks should be able to win this one.

Where Seattle really struggles, however, is on the defensive side of things. The Seahawks defense ranks 31st in the league in total yards allowed. They allow over 390 yards of offense to opposing teams per game. Opposing backs rush for over 116 yards and opposing quarterbacks throw for over 273 yards against the Seattle defense. The Seahawks offense should be able to hold their own, but the real questions come on the defensive side of the ball. If Seattle's defense can step up on Sunday, then everything else should fall into place.

Final Bears-Seahawks Prediction & Pick

This game could go either way. If the Bears really want to get this win and they step up then it's certainly possible that they take down Seattle. If Russell Wilson turns things up on Sunday, then the Seahawks could dismantle Chicago. While there are many possible outcomes the most likely is that Chicago will come up short. Seattle has been competitive this season but they have faced some very tough opponents. Pick the Seahawks to win and cover.

FINAL BEARS-SEAHAWKS PICK: Seattle Seahawks -7 (-105)
