The New York Giants will take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football. It’s time to continue our NFL odds series and make a Giants-Chiefs prediction and pick.

This is a huge opportunity for the Giants to start turning their image around. They get to travel to Kansas City to play against Patrick Mahomes on national television in a game that seems winnable after the Chiefs’ recent performance . A good showing from New York would go a long way in turning around the locker room’s morale for the rest of the season. On the flip side, this could be the starting point for a midseason turnaround for Kansas City. The rival Las Vegas Raiders are on their bye week, so this is the perfect opportunity to make up some ground in the race for the AFC West. How the Chiefs play in this game will set the tone for the rest of their season, so expect a strong showing from head coach Andy Reid’s team here.

Here’s how the bookmakers have set the Giants-Chiefs odds in Week 8.

Why The Giants Can Cover The Spread

The Giants are coming off of their best performance of the season against the Carolina Panthers, with their defense deserving a ton of credit for that success. That same defense will have to have a similar performance if New York is to pull off a cover here. head coach Joe Judge’s unit has actually been a solid defense against the pass, as they rank inside the top half of the league in passing yards allowed per game. They would be ranked higher if their offense gave them any help at all, but this defense is forced to play a whopping 66 plays per game. That number is good for the eighth-most in the league. Assuming the offense can keep them off of the field for a decent amount of time, this defense should be able to hang around with the struggling Kansas City offense.

Making the assumption that the Giants’ offense can operate effectively in this one is pretty reasonable. The Chiefs have been the worst defense in football this year, ranking in the bottom ten in the NFL in every single defensive category. New York is coming off of one of their best offensive performances of the year, and they should replicate that performance with ease in this game.

Why The Chiefs Can Cover The Spread

Kansas City’s chances of covering and winning both lie with the offense. Despite their abysmal performance against the Tennessee Titans in Week 7, this is still a top five offense in the NFL. Mahomes is obviously a superstar, and the receiving duo of Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce is absolutely deadly. The Giants have been hurt by tight ends all season long, giving up big days to the likes of Tyler Higbee, Dalton Schultz, and Logan Thomas. New York has also been one of the worst teams in the league at stopping the run, as they’ve allowed 125 rushing yards per game and 4.4 yards per carry to opposing running backs. This is the perfect opportunity for a bounce back performance for this offense.

However, the Chiefs have been torn apart by injuries lately, but that’s starting to change in this game. Starting cornerback Charvarius Ward didn’t appear on the injury report at all this week, and starting defensive lineman Chris Jones has a chance to make it back into the lineup for this game. The Giants are dealing with some injuries of their own. All three of New York’s starting receivers will be questionable heading into this game to go along with two starting offensive linemen who are on injured reserve. This Giants team is nowhere near full strength and the Chiefs should benefit from that.

Final Giants-Chiefs Prediction & Pick

It’s nearly impossible to trust the Chiefs in this spot. They struggled against the Washington Football Team even if the score doesn’t show it, and they were just obliterated by the Titans in a game they were heavily favored in. Take the Giants to cover here with the under as an acceptable side bet.

Final Giants-Chiefs Prediction & Pick: New York Giants +10 (-110)
